Event 1: Minutes of the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Geoscientists Society of Rajasthan

Place: The Milestone Resort, Udaipur, Rajasthan
The Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Geoscientists Society of Rajasthan (GSR) was held on 22 August 2026. The meeting commenced with a welcome address by the Secretary, Sh. Kanhaiya Lal Jagetia. Veteran member Sh. N. S. Khameshra presided over the meeting. The AGM was attended and chaired by Sh. Shailendra Dashora, President; Sh. K. L. Jagetia, Secretary; Dr. M. K. Somani, Former Secretary; and Sh. B. S. Yadav, Former Treasurer, GSR, along with other distinguished members of the Society.
- Presidential Remarks
The President, Sh. Shailendra Dashora, welcomed the members and appreciated the valuable contributions, dedication and continued guidance of the veteran and founder members of the Society. He recalled that the Geoscientists Society of Rajasthan was established on 15 January 2006 at Udaipur and has now completed 20 years of its journey. He emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of the present members to carry forward the legacy established by the founder members and further strengthen the Society’s activities, outreach and professional visibility. - Presentation of Annual Activity Report for 2025–26 Dr. M. K. Somani, Former Secretary, presented the annual activity report of GSR for the year 2025–26. He briefly apprised the House of the meetings, technical presentations, social activities and other programs organized by the Society during the year.
He further informed the House that, through the efforts of outgoing executive members approximately 30 new members joined the Society during the year. The House appreciated these efforts and welcomed the new members. - Presentation of Audited accounts for 2025–26
Sh. B. S. Yadav, Former Treasurer, presented the audited accounts of the Society for the financial year 2025–26. He briefed the House regarding the income and expenditure under various heads and apprised the members of the Society’s bank balance, fixed deposits, cheques under transaction and other financial matters.
Sh. B. S. Yadav also briefed the House about the formation and evolution of the Geoscientists Society of Rajasthan. He recalled the valuable contributions and efforts made by the founding members, including Sh B.S.Yadav, Sh. S. R. Jani, Dr. P. C. Audich, Dr. M. K. Somani and several other members who contributed directly or indirectly to the establishment of GSR on 15 th January 2006. He appealed to all members to actively promote the Society and encourage more geoscientists to become members so that the professional network and activities of GSR may be further expanded.
The House appreciated the efforts of Dr. M. K. Somani, Former Secretary, and Sh. B. S. Yadav, Former Treasurer, in successfully conducting the activities of the Society and maintaining its financial and administrative affairs. After due discussion, the audited accounts of GSR for the financial year 2025–26 were approved by the House.
4. Remarks by the Presiding Veteran Member
The chief guest and veteran member, Sh. N. S. Khameshra, extended his best wishes to the Society and appreciated the efforts of the office bearers and members in continuing and strengthening the activities of GSR. - Discussion and Suggestions by Members:
Thereafter, the House was opened for discussion, suggestions and proposals from the members. The following suggestions were made:
Sh. S. K. Vashistha suggested that the Society may explore the possibility of converting existing members into Fellow Members against a one-time additional contribution of ₹11,000. He also suggested approaching various companies and business houses for obtaining institutional membership of the Society.
Dr. P. C. Audich suggested incorporating Indian cultural traditions and festivals having relevance to geology, earth sciences and natural history into suitable GSR programmes. He cited examples such as Varaha Jayanti, in the context of the evolution of life, and Samudra Manthan, in relation to mineral exploration and resources associated with the marine environment.
Sh. S. N. Dodia suggested strengthening interaction with organisations such as the Directorate of Mines & Geology (DMG), RSMML, HZL and other relevant organisations to encourage working geoscientists to associate with and become members of GSR. He also suggested undertaking plantation programmes carrying the GSR identity/logo at DMG premises and other suitable locations under the “Hariyalo Rajasthan” initiative.
Dr. K. C. Tiwari suggested that GSR should organise visits to schools to introduce students and teachers to Geology and its adventurous and field-oriented aspects. He proposed organising educational field trips for school students to provide them with practical exposure to geological features and processes and to develop their interest in Earth Sciences.
Dr.M.K.Somani informed the house a team comprising of himself, Sh. B.SYadav, Dr. Maya Choudhary, Sh, K.L.Jagetia have been visiting schools for introducing geology among students & teachers and handed over mineral & rock samples in the schools.
Dr. Anil Bhandari suggested organising expert lectures and interactive programmes on various applied aspects of Geology in colleges. He proposed that experts associated with GSR may guide students regarding career opportunities, employment avenues and professional opportunities in government departments, public-sector organisations and industries.
It was informed to the house by K.L.Jagetia that GSR has been delivering presentations in the Post Graduate students about different organizations viz. DMG, HZL, GSI, ONGC, IBM, MEC, RSMM etc. their roles and jobs in mineral industries. What is
recruitment processes and how students can prepare for these.
Sh. D. S. Porwal suggested formally identifying and commemorating the Foundation Day of GSR and planning suitable programmes to mark the completion of 20 years of the Society and, subsequently, its Silver Jubilee. He also suggested increasing the visibility and outreach of GSR in Udaipur and through local/regional media. He further advised exploring the
possibility of securing a suitable permanent or dedicated venue for activities of the Society.
Sh. Dilip Bharkatiya suggested developing structured training modules on relevant geoscientific subjects for the benefit of industry professionals as well as university students.
Sh. Rajkumar Kiyani informed the House about his experience and capabilities in teaching yoga and volunteered to provide guidance and conduct a Yoga and Wellness workshop for members of GSR.
Recording of Proceedings
The proceedings of the AGM were recorded by the young members, Sh. Kapil Vasita and Sh. Karanvir Singh Rajvee, who also documented the event photographically. The House appreciated their contribution and involvement in the activities of the Society.
Concluding Remarks and Vote of Thanks
The Vice President, Sh. Vijay Prakash Sharma, summed up the proceedings of the AGM. He expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the past Executive Councils and office bearers for their untiring efforts and valuable contributions towards establishing and strengthening the Society and enhancing its visibility. He appreciated the constructive suggestions put forward by the members and assured the House that the suggestions would be considered in detail and discussed in the forthcoming meetings of the Executive Committee for their feasibility and implementation. He sought the continued cooperation and active participation of all members in organizing and successfully implementing various activities and programs of the Society.
Mr. Sharma also extended his sincere thanks to all the members for their gracious presence, valuable participation and constructive contributions to the AGM.





























Event 2: Highlights of the Annual picnic of the Geoscientists Society of Rajasthan held on 22 nd August 2026
The annual picnic of Geoscientists society of Rajasthan was held on 22nd August 2026 at Milestone Resort starting with the assembly of members and their spouses over breakfast and mutual interaction at about 10:30 Hrs. It was followed by game of housie and other games for ladies. Mrs Snehlata Somani, Mrs Meena Sharma, Mrs. Savitri Jagetia, Mrs. Meenu Sharma, Mrs. Dodia and Mrs. Chauhan helped in conducting various games viz. Antarakshi, Passing the parcel, Blind folding etc. It was followed by the “Antakshari and songs by the members and their spouses by the side of swimming pool, which was conducted by Sh. V.P. Sharma and Sh. P C. Samar. Parallel to it, the swimming pool activities started; the members, spouses and children enjoyed the swimming and swimming pool games. Delicious veg-pakoda and crispy corn were served besides the pool. The poolside activities ended around 2:30
p.m. and everybody join over lunch.
Treasurer Dr. R.L.Jodhawat, Sh. Arun K.Maloo, Sh. B.S. Yadav coordinated the picnic activities.
Sh. Kapil Vasita and Sh Karanveer Singh Rajvi helped in putting banners and photography of events during the day.
The GSR members thanked the current GSR executive committee for a wonderful picnic and all dispersed around 4:00 p.m.
