WORLD GEOLOGIST DAY:
This year the World Geologist Day was on the 5th April (first Sunday of April). The society celebrates it every year. The biannual elections for the executive committee of the Society, (term 2026 – 28) have been recently completed and the present executive is likely to relinquish it’s charge. There cannot be a better day than the ‘World Geologist Day’ for the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected executive committee. Therefore oath taking ceremony of the newly elected executive committee (26-28) was arranged on this day in the evening at Hotel Mukund Vilas, Gulab Bagh Road, Udaipur. For this members assembled over tea at 5.00 PM.
After that around 5.30 pm the program of ‘World Geologist Day‘ started. Sh R L Munshi, Retd DDG, GSI, was welcomed as the Chief Guest for the event. First of all a homage was paid to the Society’s President, Late Sh Onkar Singh Ji Siroya by observing a two minutes silence. After that members were requested to speak voluntarily on the ‘World Geologist Day‘. S/Sh Dr. GS Bhardwaj, Ex-Professor CTAE, MPUAT; Dr. Ranjeet Chaudhary, Ex-GM, RSMM; Dr.Vinod Agarwal, Ex Professor & HOD, Deptt. of Geology, MLSU; S.N. Dodia, ADG, DMG; Nawal Singh Khamesra, Ex ADG, DMG; DS Porwal Ex-GM, ONGC; Nilam Singh Khamesra, Ex-GM, ONGC; SR Jani, Ex HZL, Birla & Wonder Cement; SC Agarwal, Ex-ADG, DMG; Dr. N K Chauhan Ex Professor and HOD, MLSU expressed their views on “Geologists Roles in public life and the world economy, yet rarely come to light” and shared their experiences. Everybody praised the view that we should work for our own satisfaction.
Recently, several new members (about 30) have joined the society, on this day GSR welcomed the new members present during the program. After that, the chief guest was requested to deliver his blessings and guidance on the occasion.
OATH TAKING CEREMONY:
After that, the chief guest Shri RL Munshi, was requested to felicitate the election committee headed by S/Sh Aloke Rastogi, Arun Maloo and Shabbir Hussain for conducting free and fare elections of the society. Sh. Munshi solicited the oath to the newly elected executive members of the society.
