FELICITATION OF SENIOR AND ELDERLY MEMBERS OF +70 YEARS OF AGE:
The AGM started with inviting guests on dais Shri Dr. Balu Ram Choudhary, CMD, Chaudhary Hospitals and Ex-MLA, Chief Guest, O S Siroya, President of the Society and Dr MK Somani, Secretary.
Sh Shailendra Dashora, Vice President welcomed all the guests and the members.
Thereafter started the felicitation program of senior and elderly members of +70 years of age. The following members of the society were felicitated:

Dr., Doshi Tushar Kant, Rastogi Aloke, Alam Khursheed, Wadhawan Sudesh Kumar, Kirmani I.R., Verma Ram Gopal, Shah Dinesh Chandra, Chauhan N.K. Dr., Ranawat Tribhuvan Singh, and Khabya Narendra Kumar.
Out of these the following members could not come to attend the function for personal reasons:

After that Shri O S Siroya, President addressed the gathering.
After that Dr. BR Choudhary, Chief Guest addressed the gathering. He assured for extending any help to the members of the society regarding hospital issues.
Dr. R Choudhury presented memento to Dr. BR Choudhary, Chief Guest on behalf of the society. Sh KL Jagetiya carried out compering of this felicitation program.
THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
After this the AGM part of the program started as per agenda items circulated earlier.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 1: Presentation of the report of activities of the society for the period 2024–25:
Sh MK Somani presented annual report of the Secretary on the activities carried out during the year 2024-25.
Last AGM was held on 19.10.2024 (for the year 23-24) with the following agenda items
- 01. Presentation of the report of activities of the society for the period 2023–24
- 02. Presentation of the statement of accounts for the period 2023–24
In addition, we had arranged a lecture by Sh Ravi Kant Sharma.
Lecture by Sh. Ravi Kant Sharma: on Geophysical investigations to explore nature and behaviour of subsurface formations of Granite, marble, and other dimensional stones for block-ability study of the area with advanced scientific technologies
AGM:
Dr. M K Somani gave a detailed account of the events organised by GSR during the year 2023-2024. It has organised 11 events during 2023-24.
Ten new life members have joined the society during this period. He also briefed about the new project of finding out some sites of geological interest and promoting them through Tourism Department.
After that Sh B S Yadav, Treasurer, presented the audited accounts for FY 2023-24. A copy of the accounts is already posted in the group.
The entire event of Lecture and AGM was live on Facebook so that the members not in Udaipur or not in position to attend physically, can also be benefited.
A brief account of Activities during 24-25:
On April 7, 2024, the Society celebrated
- World Geologists Day,
- Swearing in ceremony of newly elected executive of Geoscientist Society concluded.
- 23 veteran members of geoscientists society were honoured on GEOLOGIST DAY.
The chief guest of the program was city MLA Shree Tarachand ji Jain and the guest of honour was industrialist Shree Mangilal ji Lunawat.
On this occasion, 23 veterans, +75-year-old, member-geoscientists were felicitated with uparna /shawl / badge. The veteran members include S/Shree Basanti Lal ji Babel, Satyendra Narayan ji Bhatnagar, RC Saxena, Dr. Ranjit Choudhary, SC Agarwal, Dr Subhash Chandra Khosla, Naval Singh ji Khamesara, Dr. RL Munshi, Dhirendra Prasad ji Aggarwal, Ravi Dayal ji, Dhirendra Singh ji Mehta, Dr Noratan Mal Khandelwal, Dr. R. P. Kachhara, Dr. KC Gyani, Pyare Krishna ji Yadav, Prakash Kumar ji Vardia, Neelam Singh ji Khamesara, KP Aggarwal, Shashi Ranjan Jani, RL Tank, Omkar Singh Siroya, Ajit Prasad Bhatnagar, Govind Sharma.
Also on this occasion, the swearing in ceremony of the newly elected executive committee (24-26) of the Society was also carried out through Shree Tara Chand ji Jain
Also, on this occasion the Election committee headed by Shree T S Ranawat and supported by Shree Arun Maloo and Shabbir Hussain, was also felicitated for carrying out the election process smoothly.
Also, on this occasion Shree Ravi Kumar Sharma and S N Dodiya were also felicitated who donated a public address system to the society.
- In continuation to the World Geologist Day program, on 12.04.2024, few members of the executive committee which include Shri Shailendra Dashora, Vice President, Dr MK Somani, Secretary, B S Yadav, Treasurer, Shri K L Jagetiya, Executive Member and Shri Arun Maloo, felicitated three +75-year veteran members of society at their residence in presence of their family members. These members could not attend the Geologist Day program due to their ill health. First of them was Shri P K Vardia, second Shri PK Yadav and third Shri S.N. Bhatnagar. The veterans shared their experiences and put forth their views for further work.
- WORLD EARTH DAY CELEBRATION 22.04.2024
On 22.04.2024 the Society celebrated “World Earth Day.”
After that Shri Dilip Bharkatiya (Ex-GM, ONGC) gave a presentation on “Sedimentary Basins” which was well received by the members. K L Jagetiya summed up the presentation and proposed vote of thanks for Shree D K Bharkatiya
- Society Exhibits Sample Box at an EXHIBITION
On 11.01.2025 in the exhibition organised by Geology Department, BN University for the school students, we also exhibited our Minerals Sample Box which was well received by the students of various schools. The exhibition was inaugurated by S/Sh P K Vardia Sb and N K Kavadia sb.
- World Environment Day on 05th June, 2024
The Society organised a talk on the “World Environment Day” on 05th June, 2024.
On the occasion Shri Roshan Lal Shrimali (Ex-Professor Rajasthan University & Ex- Dy. General Manager HZL) explained the importance of the World Environment Day and made a presentation on “Environment Changes: Reasons, Impacts & Remedies” it was well appreciated and discussed by the members.
- Celebration of Independence Day 2024 and Plantation Program
We arranged to celebrate Independence Day 15th Aug 2024 at RAJKIYA VRIDHASHRAM, Baleecha, managed by a charity institution, TARA SANSTHAN, at 100 Ft Road, Dakshin Vistar, Mahadev nagar, Baleecha, Udaipur.
The Managers Sh. Shailesh ji Baxi and Deepak ji Sharma welcomed the members of the Society.
At 11.00 AM Flag hoisting was carried out by one of the senior inmates of the Vridhashram.
After that Dr. M. K. Somani gave a brief introduction of the Society. The Society presented all the inmates of the Vridhashram a coffee mug as a gesture of goodwill.
The members of the society and inmates of the Vridhashram carried out Plantation of about 15 saplings in the complex.
Lunch was served. The lunch was sponsored by Sh. Onkar Singh Siroya, President of the Society.
PICNIC OF THE MEMBERS on 22.09.2024
GSR arranged a picnic for its members with spouse at a resort near Iswal, Udaipur on 22.09.2024. It is in natural hilly terrain of Aravalli and has a swimming pool facility.
- During the next few months efforts were being made for identifying geo-tourist sites. One such site has been identified as Ripple marks at Fatehsagar near circuit house. A letter has been sent to tourist department and is being followed up for its logical end.
- Sh SC Agarwal raised the issue of GEONEWS not being published. He was informed that since we are publishing all the activities of the society on our website www.gsru.org we have stopped the publishing GEONEWS, however if the members desire, we can again make efforts to start it.
- A few new changes (NAVACHAR) have been introduced which was also brought to the knowledge of the house. They are:
- i) For last few events like picnic, we have been inviting members with spouses so that they can also meet each other. After initial hitch, ladies have also developed good bonding amongst them and created a WhatsApp group, and so much so, that this time they came in a good number of about 20 and in a pre-decided dress code of red colour attires. The house also appreciated it and approved to continue this. Now the ladies may have their own programs.
- ii) As many of our members are spread all our India, we were planning to go online so that such members can also participate in our events. You are aware that in the last AGM we had tried Facebook live on our own. This time we hired a professional team. This AGM is going live on YouTube on our newly created channel @geoscientistssocietyraj. Now onwards we can go on-line on this channel. We request you to subscribe, like and share the channel among our geologist friends.
- iii) It was also informed to the house that in past few of the events were sponsored by some of our members and that we are open for any donation or sponsorship of any event or program of the society, partly or fully. It was also informed to the house that the financial health of the society is in good condition and we are not spending even the annual interest received from our FDs. We are paying income tax on the balance amount.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 2: Presentation of balance sheet by treasurer.
Shri B S Yadav presented submitted the audited accounts of the society which was approved by the house.
New Members joined during the year 24-25:
1. Sh DK Bhadaktiya, on 09.04.2024 from ONGC as Life member, all the members welcomed him.
2. Sh Rama Krishna Rao Muthyala on 02.10.2024 as Associated Member. His background and interest was discussed, all the members appreciated and welcomed.

TALK BY SHREE VINOD AGARWAL, FINANCIAL PROFESSIONAL
After this the Talk on Sustainable Withdrawal Strategies- Approaches to withdrawing of retirement savings sustainably, Inflation Protection and Low-risk investment Options for Seniors by Sri Vinod Agarwal, Financial Professional started.
Since it was on financial matters everybody participated interactively and took interest in Q&A and it was so prolonged that ultimately, we declared that we can have another session of this talk in near future.
We have for the first time invited a guest to deliver a talk on a subject other than GEOLOGY. This time it is on financial matters. The response of the members was overwhelming, so we declared that we can have another session of this talk in near future.
A memento was presented to Sri Vinod Agarwal, Financial Professional by Sh SC Agarwal on behalf of the Society.
After that we had delicious Dinner and dispersed.
The entire event was telecasted on our YouTube channel @geoscientistssocietyraj live. So far this video has about 90 views and the channel has 13 subscribers, we request all the members to subscribe the channel for future live streaming of society’s events.
