In continuation to our GSR LECTURE SERIES for the students of Department of Geology, MLSU, the Society arranged two lectures on 10th January 2024. Besides the students some of the faculty members such as Dr Ritesh Purohit, Akhil Dvivedi, Sh Mohanty etc. were also present during the program. The members of the society present during the program were S/Sh O S Siroya, President, Dr M K Somani, Secretary, B S Yadav, Treasurer, T S Ranawat, Vijay Sharma, Joint Secretary, Shekhar Bhargava, Shailendra Dashora, and Balwant Singh Dhannawat,
- The first lecture was by Shri Arun Maloo, Retired Superintending Geologist, DMG on Role of Geologist in DMG. Sh Maloo elaborated on the functions of Department of Mines and Geology and role of Geologist in the Department. He also discussed as to how primitive man started use of stone for hunting and later on various uses of metals for arms and gradually industrial use of various minerals. Sh Maloo’s lecture started at 11.00 am and was finished by 12.00 am. The lecture was quite interactive where students and the members of the society also joined in the discussion. Sh T S Ranawat, Dr M K Somani, Sh Dhannawat, Sh Ritesh Purohit also interacted during the lecture.
- ???The second lecture was by Shri Prakash Samar, Superintending Hydrogeologist, GWD on Role of Geologist in GWD. Sh Samar elaborated on the functions of Ground Water Department and role of Geologist in the Department. This lecture was scheduled from 12:00 to 1:00 pm but Sh Samar’s lecture was so interactive and interesting that it lasted at 2.15 pm. Sh Samar discussed in detail about the exploration for water and quality of water at length. Sh Ranawat, Sh Maloo, Sh Somani, Sh Purohit also interacted during the lecture.
